Orton, defense come through late for Broncos

Who needs Jay Cutler? Certainly not the 6-0 Denver Broncos, who are using a big-play defense and late-game heroics by Kyle Orton in a fast start. Denver heads into its bye week on a high note after a 34-23 win over division-rival San Diego as the Broncos slowly but surely make room for more fans on their bandwagon.

Denver is starting to make believers of fantasy owners as well with the sudden revival of its passing game. Orton finished with 229 yards passing and two touchdowns versus San Diego. One of the scoring passes went to tight end Tony Scheffler, who led the Broncos with 101 yards receiving. The other went to Brandon Stokley.

Both Orton and Scheffler appear to have solid fantasy value going forward, so consider your depth to be in good shape if you have either one of them on your fantasy bench.

Raging Broncos Look Unbeatable

No one saw it coming. Going into week seven of the NFL season the Denver Broncos are undefeated.

With a lot of offensive firepower and defensive grit the Broncos are off to a 5–0 start atop the AFC West and seem to be a clear playoff contender.

The Broncos have beat some good teams along the way too. Denver needed overtime to get by perennial power New England while beating Dallas and sudden threat Cincinnati in convincing games.
The Patriots were by far the biggest test for Denver last week but now the Broncos get another tough customer in the San Diego Chargers.

Cayman fans see Denver and San Diego square off on Monday Night Football tonight at 7:30pm Cayman time on ESPN.

Buckhalter practices; status for Monday's game still up in the air‎

Denver Broncos running back Correll Buckhalter returned to practice Wednesday after missing Sunday's game with a sprained left ankle.

Buckhalter, who injured his ankle against Dallas on Oct. 4, took a few hand-offs and caught some screen passes during the practice that was open to the media, Lindsay Jones reported on her Denver Post Broncos blog.

Would Bears be better off with Orton?

The Denver Broncos' Kyle Orton and the Cincinnati Bengals' Cedric Benson enjoyed the Bears' bye weekend more than anybody who jumped a flight to Las Vegas, returned to his old school to take in some college football or simply spent the weekend lying around the house eating takeout food.

Bully for them. Both had big games Sunday, solidifying their statuses as blossoming stars on their respective teams and top players in the league. Benson leads the NFL in rushing with 487 yards, six more than Minnesota Vikings stud Adrian Peterson. Orton is among the top 10 in passing and quarterbacks a Broncos team that is perfect through five games.

Denver's McDaniels might be a better version of Belichick

Broncos coach Josh McDaniels is no Bill Belichick. For one thing, he is 4-0 as a rookie head coach, whereas Belichick started 2-2 in his first rodeo with the '91 Browns....

Culter better than Orton? Please!

Okay people I need to get this off my chest, because I’m tired of hearing it! I'm talking about Denver fans in general. Every Sunday I chat with others on the Broncos web chat feature, and discuss with friends the Denver situation. I get the impression that Denver fans in general still think that Jay Culter is a better quarterback than Kyle Orton. Without a doubt Cutler is a better athlete, after all he does have a rocket arm and fast for quarterback standards ran a 4.83, 40 coming into the league. But a better quarterback I am beginning to doubt. Let's start by looking at both Jay Cutlers and Kyle Ortons stats through the first 5 games:

As we can see from the stats Orton is by far better through the first 5 games. The one pick that Orton threw was a last play hail Mary at the end of the first half in yesterday’s game. Orton may take a sack or two during the game, but at least he doesn’t panic and toss up the ball for anyone to grab in these situations. I getting sick of hearing “Imagine how good we (Denver) would be if he had Cutler this year!” I honestly think that we wouldn’t be sitting at 5-0 right now if we had Cutler. Cutler’s gets shaken to easy in tense situations and throws the ball aimlessly. Denver fans let’s put this debate to rest! Kyle Orton is clearly a better fit for McDaniels offense and although not a better athlete, the perfect pedigree for winning games.
